Windmills on the Plateau de Millevaches

A series of 6 of these large windmills has been set up this year on a remote hillside near Peyrelevade. We saw them from afar while going back home after a rather long trip and could not resist getting closer.

It may not be obvious from the photo, but these things are huge. The mast is 64 (close to 200 feet) meters high. When getting closer, we noticed a quiet humming sound, but there was almost no wind and I assume it can be stronger and would be disturbing... if there was anyone around to hear it, of course, which is not the case as the area is quite empty.

I also find those windmills far less disturbing for this nice landscape than the large pylons spanning entire valleys that are found elsewhere.
