The main church of Dourdan is located just in front of the castle. It was built in stages and modified several times, as it is often the case. Construction started in the 12th century, but the church kept being modified and repaired until the 17th. It was damaged by the English during the 100 years war and again during the religious wars of the 16th century.
The part of the castle you can see facing the church is its main entrance and the building museum.
