Champeaux collegiate church stall miséricorde

This is the detail of a seat in the stall area of the collegiate church of Champeaux. Not all of the 54 seats in this area of the church were as well preserved, but many of them still had this kind of sculpted seat.
This kind of seat is called a miséricorde. It enabled church officials to be seated or standing without effort during mass.
