The Grand Canal of Versailles

A view of the Grand Canal that divides the gardens of Versailles with a cross shaped pool. It does not seem very large on this view, but is actually 1.6 km (one mile) long. It is possible to rent small four seat rowboats to explore the canal, which explains why there are so many of them on Sunday afternoons.
