Honfleur is said to exist since the 11th century. The town was a vital port in exchanges with Britain. Goods went from Rouen to Southern Britain via this port. It later became very prosperous thanks to trade with Canada, the French West Indies and Africa. There are still a few old vessels there, but this part is mainly a boating harbour.
