The Debilly footbridge was designed in 1900 for the world fair. It was meant to be destroyed afterwards but was kept as well as the Eiffel tower. It was actually moved in 1906, before becoming a permanent bridge.
De Billy was one of Napoleon's generals who died at the battle of Iena in 1806.
