The Bir Hakeim bridge is named after a battle of World War two that the French troops lost. However, they delayed Italian and german armored divisions so much that the british troops could fall back to their rear and win the following battle (first battle of El Alamein).
This bridge is similar in concetption to the bridge of Bercy, with the metro using its upper part, but is built in metal, not stone.
