Meeting at the Trocadero

The Palais de Chaillot is in fact two buildings separated by a large square. Sculptures of athletic men and women on the sides complete the view and make the whole thing look a bit like a building designed in nazi Germany.
Once you know that there was actually a building in the middle, the square looks quite empty. Here is a postcard of the original building that was destroyed in 1937.
